Two people were injured Wednesday
afternoon when they collided on Highway 411 in front of the Dollar
General Store in Vonore.
Police Chief Randy Kirkland said Carrie
Chapman, 36, Ellis Street, Vonore, was turning left toward the store
when she was hit by Connor McCallum, 19, Vonore, who was driving
southbound on Highway 411.
Chapman's Volkswagen and McCallum's
Mustang were knocked far apart by the collision.
Kirkland said it the
wreck appeared to be caused by a combination of Chapman turning in
front of McCallum and McCallum traveling too fast.
is ongoing and charges are pending.
Kirkland said both drivers were
taken to UT Medical Center by helicopter, but neither had life-threatening injuries.
