MADISONVILLE-An Englewood man was hit
with a slew of charges after a wreck he allegedly cause sent several
people to the hospital Oct. 2.
Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Brian
Millsaps said he had to wait for Gary Michael Allen, Wilson Station
Road, to recover from his injuries before he could proceed with the
Millsaps said it was around 6:50 p.m.
when Allen and another allegedly got into a road rage confrontation
on Highway 68 near County Farm Road. The other driver, Ronald Neeley,
said at one point, Allen threw a beer bottle, hitting his car with it
while driving in the emergency lane.
The confrontation ended, Millsaps said,
when Allen swerved to avoid a car parked on the shoulder of the
highway, lost control and went into the other lane where he crashed
into a car driven by Carolyn Finch.
Finch, Allen and his passenger, Betty
Malone were all injured, with Allen and Malone being flown to UT
Medical Center for treatment.
Millsaps said he wasn't able to test
Allen for alcohol due to his injuries, but an EMT told him Allen
smelled strongly of alcohol as he was being treated at the scene.
Millsaps said he secured a search warrant for Allen's blood from UT
Medical Center and will have it tested.
Allen is charged with three counts
vehicular assault, DUI fourth offense, reckless driving, failure to
exercise due care, criminal littering and several traffic violations.
