SWEETWATER-Another arrest has been made
in the beating of a man who allegedly owed his assailants $35.
Sweetwater Police Detective John
Scruggs said he arrested Thomas L. J. Moore, 18, of Madisonville in
the September 19 assault of Caleb Smythia.
Scruggs said Moore took part in the
assault, which saw Smythia suffer a broken leg and other injuries.
Scruggs said the assault began in the
Sweetwater Junior High parking lot around 10:30 p.m. and then he was
taken to a field off Highway 68 where he was allegedly beat some more
and burned with a cigarette. He also had his shoes and cell phone
stolen and was told he would be killed.
