MADISONVILLE-A Madisonville man was
arrested Saturday after he allegedly attacked both his mother and his
Madisonville Police Capt. Danny Russell
said he received a call of a domestic assault on Veal Heights Street
and that the alleged assailant had left on a purple motorcycle.
When Russell arrived at the residence,
the man's mother told him her son, Anthony Joseph Baldwin, 26, had
started to whip one of his children when she stepped in to stop him.
She said they began to argue and he
ended up striking her and scratching her arm before leaving.
Officer Steve Sloan stopped Baldwin and
he was taken into custody.
Later, Sgt. David Wear went to the
Sweetwater Hospital Emergency Room where he talked with the mother
while the 6-month-old child was being treated.
The mother told Wear Baldwin had
slapped the child after the child peed on him while his diaper was
being changed. She alleged Baldwin then threw the child down
forcefully into his crib. Wear said the child did have bruising and
swelling on the top of his head.
Baldwin is charged with domestic
assault and child abuse.
