Monroe County recently received a Three-Star Grant of $15,000, designed to help the county get healthier.
Economic and Community Development Director Shan Harris applied for
the grant, which was the most it could be. Monroe County Mayor Tim
Yates said the grant will target a healthier lifestyle for the
community. Teresa Harrill, director of the Monroe County Health
Department will implement the project through the Health Council.
program will be called "Monroe on the Move" and will focus on
prevention areas of health and wellness, including diabetes,
nutrition, weight, physical activity and fitness.
