A Tellico Plains manufacturer is laying off dozens of
employees, but the owner says he hopes the move will only be temporary, according to published
reports.
Tellico Services Inc., which is located in the former CVG building, is laying off 85
of its 200 workers. The owner told the media he's had to make the move due to a lack of orders
from the military. The company has a contract with the Army, but the funding has been delayed due to
the sequester and budget issues in Washington D.C.
The company said it will bring back the
workers as soon as it receives the orders. Read more about this layoff in the Wednesday
paper.
