TELLICO PLAINS-A Tellico Plains area
man was hit with a number of charges after he allegedly tried to
steal items from a man's car just before midnight Friday.
Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy C. J.
Williams said he went to a home on Highway 360 at 11:47 p.m. and saw
a man wearing a blue shirt walking towards the homeowner. Williams
said the man laid some stuff on the ground, saw Williams getting out
of his cruiser and took off for the woods.
Williams said he yelled for the man to
stop, but he kept running. After an extensive search of the area, the
man was found lying on the roof of a neighboring house. The man was
identified as William Douglas Bookout, 32, Highway 360, Tellico
Plains, according to police. See full story in the Wednesday, March 20, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
