MADISONVILLE-If the winter of
2011-2012 hadn't been mild, the City of Madisonville's finances would have been in fantastic
shape. As it is, auditor Susan Emert said the Water and Sewer
Departments are in good shape and the general fund balance, from which most of the town's budget is
drawn, had more than a million dollars in cash for that fiscal year. "Also your expenditures were less than budgeted," Emert said, "which is always a good thing.
And the audit came out of fine. There were no issues to be found. The only bad mark was the Gas
Department being $39,000 down, but a mild winter was the main reason for that." See full story in the Wednesday, March 6, edition
