Sweetwater Police are investigating a report of vandalism at the vacant Tennessee Meiji Gakuin campus.

Sweetwater Utilities Board General Manager Robert Bettis first reported copper had been stolen, major damage had been done to transformers and that a 2-inch gas line had been busted, according to a police report.

According to police, Bettis later reported not as much damage had been done as first feared to the transformers. About $2,000 worth of copper was taken from the property, SUB estimates.
