The weather may have warmed up this week in Sweetwater, but there have been thousands of extra snowflakes.

Students from the city system, led by the junior high, made 8,000 paper snowflakes to put on area businesses and government offices. The snowflakes were made to honor Sandy Hook Elementary School, which was the scene of the mass shooting in December.

Pictures of the decorated businesses and other buildings in Sweetwater will be sent to the Connecticut school.

Pictured putting up snowflakes from left are: Sweetwater Junior High art teacher Julie Whited and her son Tanner Whited, a Brown Intermediate School student.
