CLEVELAND - Sequoyah’s poor shooting in the second half doomed the Lady Chiefs, as the lost 53-49 to Walker Valley on Thursday night.
The Lady Chiefs hit just 8 of 20 free throws and were limited to just 4 third quarter points. Emily Ingram led all scorers with 16 points. No other Lady Chief hit double digits in points. Sequoyah was close at the half as they trailed 26-25 at the half.
The four point third quarter didn’t help, but when you add that fact to this fourth quarter stat, it can make a road win tough to earn. Walker Valley hit 11 of 16 free throws in the last quarter to ice the game.
The Lady Mustangs scored only 8 points from the field in the last eight minutes. This game came down to shooting, and Walker Valley made their shots. Sequoyah had two players reach 8 points in Danielle Slack and Savana Atchely.
Four Lady Chiefs had 4 points. Kassidi Freeman had 4 points to go along with her 10 blocks. Hunter Simpson, Chancey Welshan and Laura Whited all had 4 points. Josee Weese added a free throw in the loss.
