The Sweetwater community is morning the
death of a 15-year-old Sweetwater High student after police say he
accidentally shot himself Thursday afternoon while handling a family
handgun.
Police say Matthew Daniels was killed
when the gun discharged at his home.
"It's a tragedy for the family and
the community," Sweetwater Police Chief Eddie Byrum said, of the
young man who was noted as an outstanding student and leader at his
school.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Family will receive friends today,
Monday, Jan. 28 from 4 until 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of
Sweetwater. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 29 at First Baptist Church of Sweetwater. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests that donations be made to the Matthew Daniels
Memorial Fund. Kyker Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
