The Monroe County Sheriff's Office
has made arrests in two burglaries, one from last summer, the other
from this past weekend.
Detective Conway Mason said it was July
15, 2012, when a safe containing jewelry, coins and other items worth
an estimated $13,000 were taken from the home of William Shultz on
Pleasant Drive in Madisonville.
Mason said there were two handguns and
two chainsaws also taken. According to Mason, over the course of the
investigation, it was found Derek Evans and another man were believed
to be responsible for the crime.
Evans, Riceville Road, Athens, was
arrested last week and charged with theft of property over $10,000
and aggravated burglary. See full story in the Wednesday, Jan. 23, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
