SWEETWATER-A owner will be allowed to
use a garage at the Vonore Road and Sunset Drive intersection as a
repair shop for buses, but cannot expand the operation to a lot
behind the garage.
The topic first came up at the end of
2012 when a rezoning request came before the Sweetwater Regional
Planning Commission and the City Commission. The commercial rezoning
request for the lots at the front of the Greenhill Addition failed
for a lack of a motion at the December City Commission meeting.
But during Monday's Planning Commission
workshop, City Planner Scott Wilson said the smaller lot with the
garage can be used for the bus repair shop since it was grandfathered
in before a previous residential rezoning. He stressed the repair
business will not be allowed to expand to the lot behind the garage,
as it is not zoned for a repair shop and is not grandfathered in
either. See full story in the Wednesday, Jan. 16, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
