The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is
investigating an alleged shooting from Sunday night.
Deputy Scott Hunt said he went to
Bowater Road around 6 p.m. and talked with Tammy Stamey, who told him
her husband had come to the house and started arguing with her about
signing over a truck title to him.
Another person at the house,
Christopher Mills, told Stamey to leave and they started arguing. A
neighbor, Alan Hart, heard the argument and came over to see what was
going on, Hunt was told.
At this point, William Stamey allegedly
grabbed a shovel out of his truck and "came at" Hart, Hunt said.
Mills, who was on the porch by this time, grabbed a 30.06 rifle and
fired two shots at Stamey's feet to keep him from hitting Hart with
the shovel, according to Hunt. See full story in the Wednesday, Jan. 16, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
