LOUDON- Hunter Simpson and the Lady Chiefs battled the Lady
Redskins on Tuesday night, and came out on top. Simpson's 19 points and Savana Atchley's 11
points were enough to carry Sequoyah past Loudon 54-32.
Sequoyah dominated most of this game
to sweep the season series from Loudon. Last year these were two games the Lady Chiefs could not
win, but now they seem to be clicking on the court. Beating rival teams always helps for team
chemistry. Simpson has open lanes to drive through al night and took advantage of them, as did
Atchley.
Chancey Welshan continued her hot streak and through in 10 points. Laura Whited had
6 and Danielle Slack scored 4. Emily Ingram and Suzy Guard had 2 a piece. The Lady Chiefs defense
was what stood out in this game. Sequoyah did not have to score as much because their play on the
perimeter was astounding.
As a team, the Lady Redskins shot just 10 for 46, 21.7 percent,
from the field. They failed to hit on 18 attempts from beyond the arc. I'd say thats pretty
good defense.
