Hello, Congress. David Petraeus is not going anywhere.
Nothing is going to change the disaster
in Benghazi.
Right now, you (Congress) have other
problems to solve and you have to do that fast. So, get your focus on
the immediate problems and worry about the things you cannot change
at a later date.
Sen. John McCain has become the
media-chasing politician (I have a better word but I will not use
it), with his sidekick Lindsay Graham, trying to make the biggest
issue facing America the question of when the president knew of the
real source of the four murders in Benghazi.
"When," does not bring back those
lives. There was a tragic communications mess but there is nothing we
can do about it now, except that we make sure those problems are
corrected. We do need to get to the bottom of why there was not more
security for the embassy, but attacking the President about when he
knew it was terrorist attack, proves little.
Frankly, McCain's and Graham's
motivation for raising such a stink is politics, and not a concern
for the four killed or what is best for the country. McCain is still
mad that he lost the election four years ago and seems hell-bent on
getting even. Obama did not pick his running mate, McCain did that,
and that bad decision has made him a bitter old man. Get over it!
Graham can only get some of the
attention if he acts like he is as important as McCain. You would
think the recent election numbers would have tempered some of that
arrogance, but they do not get it. He seems to be attempting to ride
McCain's coattails and there simply is not enough room there.
However, what they both seem to forget
there is more to worry about than who the President nominates for
Attorney General. That nomination has to go through Congress sooner
or later, so worry about it then. The fact that McCain has attacked
Ambassador Susan Rice's intelligence, integrity and anything else
he can think of, says more about McCain than it does Rice.
McCain, Graham, "Shut up and get to
work on our immediate problems. You can be sore losers later."
