The Sweetwater Wildcats have lost three
of their last four, but redemption is nigh. With losses to Loudon,
Polk County, and McMinn Central, the Wildcats need a win and some
help to make the playoffs. Bledsoe County has won just two games this
year, and Sweetwater has plenty of reasons to want this win.
Aside from the fact that Bledsoe beat
Sweetwater last year, the Wildcats really need this game for playoff
momentum. Sweetwater will play anyone anywhere, but these eight seed/one
seed match ups in the opening round of the playoffs are getting old,
I'm sure. If the Wildcats can edge out a win at Bledsoe and then
upset the Chiefs at Sequoyah, then their playoff positioning could be
better.
No doubt the Wildcat
defense will need to perform better than they have recently. In two
of the three losses in this 1-3 stretch, the Wildcats have given up
at least 26 points. The lone dominant performance was the just the
eight points given up to the Redskins. The defense holds the key to
winning. If Sweetwater can shut down opponents like they are used to
doing this year then they can win and push forward. This is still a
good team with a chance to do something in the playoffs. They'll
just have to rekindle the spark they had when they started the season
4-0.
