Published: 10:35 AM, 03/15/2010
Sequoyah Birthplace Museum will offer a Cherokee genealogy workshop on Saturday, April 10, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the museum located on 576 Hwy. 360, Vonore. Cost of the workshop is $30 per person. Bring a bagged lunch, drinks are available.
Professional Genealogist, Lorna Morton, will lead a workshop at the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum. The Genealogy Seminar includes the Genealogical Research Process, the Cherokee in Anglo Records, including the U.S. Federal Census, and Cherokee Rolls and Records. The last couple of hours will be covering one family that has been researched from a living individual today back to their Cherokee ancestor, showing transparencies of actual rolls and records documenting this family, both in Eastern Band and Cherokee Nation records. This will give class participants a chance to see the actual rolls, and the kind of information found on each.
To pre-register or for more details contact the museum at (423) 884-6246. Payment must be received before the workshop as space is limited.
