Robert J. Aikens

Robert J. Aikens of Tellico Plains, passed away at 5:45 a.m., Sunday, Nov 11, at Sweetwater Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was 78.

Preceded in death by: parents, Jasper and Bannie Winter Aikens; sister, Janette Aikens; and brother, Hubert Aikens.

Survivors include: wife-Mary Crowder Aikens;

Daughter-Darlene Aikens of Tellico Plains;

Sons and daughters-in-law-Wilburn and Phyllis Aikens and Tim and Barbara Aikens, all of Vonore; Jack and Sheena Aikens of Tellico Plains; and Billie and Bobbie Aikens of Madisonville;

Granddaughters-Katie, Candace and Dessi;

Grandsons-Drake and Emerson;

Great-grandsons-Jacob, Jesse and Bentley;

Sister-Louise Aikens of Gainesville, Ga.;

Brothers-Harold Aikens and Curtis Aikens, both of Gainesville; and Nute Aikens of Nashville, N.H.;

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Davis officiating. Interment will be in Piney Grove Cemetery with military service provided by VFW Post #5156 and DAV #93. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, in charge of arrangements.
